On The Wings of Faith
On the wings of faith I ride
In the arms of faith I dance
On the strong lap of faith I sleep
On faith’s shoulders I cry
As I travel alone, far from home
Attempting to escape life
Which has now become my coffin
Slowly suffocating me.
On the wings of faith I ride
In the arms of faith I dance
On the strong lap of faith I sleep
On faith’s shoulders I cry
For I have lost my balance
From the stench of the enigma
That justice, truth and mercy
Are delivered to the poor and powerless
When it is convenient.
On the wings of faith I ride
In the arms of faith I dance
On the strong lap of faith I sleep
On faith’s shoulders I cry
Faith wraps her arms around me
As she reminds me
That God’s love is constant
And it stretches to every hour of every day of my life.
On the wings of faith I ride
In the arms of faith I dance
On the strong lap of faith I sleep
On faith’s shoulders I cry
For the invisible shackles that are around my neck and feet Cut deep into my flesh as they weigh me down
Faith gently caresses my face
As she hands me a cup filled with hope and endurance
On the wings of faith I ride
In the arms of faith I dance
On the strong lap of faith
I sleep with both eyes open
Fearful of the merciless road that I am destined to travel Faith kisses me then whispers
“Fear only adds to fear –
– But faith that God will provide, sustain and protect adds to everything”
And my heart and soul peacefully take flight in God’s glory.
